Safeguarding

Mullion SLSC operate within the strict guidelines of the SLSGB policy and training standard. SLSGB state that all sessions must by led by a lifeguard and at least one Level 2 coach. Also that all coaches have undertaken safeguarding training, are DBS checked and have read and signed the safeguarding training policy.

Safeguarding has a number of elements to it such as:

  • how we, as coaches behave with the children

  • the reporting process that must be followed should any child welfare concerns come to light

  • keeping a child safe from harm during a session

  • protecting them in transit (to and from a session)

  • ensuring they go home with an approved adult

  • that coaches are DBS checked

  • protecting vulnerable children and adults

  • offering equal opportunities

  • preventing compromising situations

  • child to adult ratio

Every coach and lifeguard needs to read the Safeguarding policy from SLSGB below - and update your record in JustGo (the membership system)
